Nice price on the Kelty bag, 1st link. I got the same bag, but in the synthetic not down. Same price last summer. Interestingly, the weight is the same. I guess at that temp rating, the fill weights needed aren't much different.

Neo,

Not bad prices but that stuff is not really light weight unless your trainning for the heavy weight. Keep it real.

Neo didn't suggest this was the lightest gear available. He found some decent stuff at discount prices, and wanted to share the bargain. I won't be purchasing any of those products either, but I don't think he deserved your snotty response.

Thanks for the info Neo - I passed along the info to a friend who is in the market for a new tent!

Neo said here is some lightweight gear (go back and read), and some guy said it wasn't all that light weight (which it isn't all that lightweight - compare to weights Neo just listed for his own gear). No big deal either way. I don't think he deserved your snotty response. :D

Neo,

My total pack weight, shelter, etc is just under 4 pounds everything included used to hiked the entire AT, LT, PCT, etc. Cost total around $150.

This is an ultra light forum. Weight of 2 pounds plus for a backpack, sleeping bag, or tent is heavy when trying to go ultra light. I know you are trying to help hikers get good deals but it just not appropriate for an ultra light form.

Funny thing about the internet - it's much easier than real life to ignore what you don't like and move on without commenting. What's funnier is how few people actually do that.

Neo was trying to help, in a forum that some people who are interested in that topic might read. For people interested in making the switch one step at a time, perhaps his post was useful. If you're already beyond the experience level that his post was intended for, wouldn't it be easier to appreciate the spirit in which it was offered than to belittle him because those packs don't fit in with the "proper" definition of ultralight? Just sayin.

Thanks for posting, Neo. (Though your links might be more useful if you provided a bit of commentary with each one.)
