Hey,

I found a pair of Cabela's 11" crew sock at a store at a huge markdown. There wasn't much material info on the packaging so I contacted the company and they gave me the following for the socks:

Contents are as follows:

39% Wool
39% Acrylic
14% Nylon
7% Polyester
1% Lycra Spandex

I am planning an AT SOBO thru-hike this summer and will be wearing the Injinji sock liners and was wondering if anyone had any good or bad experiences with socks from Cabela's. My original choice for the thru is Darn Tough socks with the Injinji liners.

Thanks...Mike

The cons for me are they are not Smartwool PhD socks. Not trying to be smart, just saying that until Smartwool goes out of business I will not change socks, they have saved my feet countless times

I have a pair of Cabela's branded boot socks that are several years old, and still in good shape. If the price is good, I'm sure they'll work just fine.

I'm not an expert and I can't back it up but I believe the acrylic is not ideal for moisture transport. it just seems to me that socks used to be mostly acrylic and/or nylon and then polyester came on the scene as the great new thing.

popular socks made for hiking seem to be made from either poly, or merino, or a blend...

Not sure if those are the ones I have, but I bought some from Cabelas that are made for the left foot and right foot and have a lifetime guarantee. I love them. They fit so much better than Darn Tough. DT's tighten up across thew top of my foot ( and I'm hand washing them and air drying them) and I can't stand them anymore, they're Darn Tight. The Cabelas are pretty good at not stinking too.

Recommend darn tough socks. Tried most other brands and I keep going back to them. Longest lasting socks I have owned.
