"Lost on The Appalachian Trail" is a good read, also the same Author put out a new one which I haven't read yet called "Hear the Challenge".

I'm new and don't know anything.... but I feel like I learned a good bit from Andrew Skurka's Ultimate Backpacker's Guide. I understand he has recently or soon will release an update since it's a bit old now.

The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, by Stephen King. Tangentially about the AT.... :)

Walking with Spring, by Earl Shaffer - the original thru hiker. An excellent read.
