Well, I think I'll be okay, I'm skipping the muir at whitney portal, and flipflopping after canada back to lyell canyon to finish sobo at whitney. I think may is certainly ideal with all the snow though.

Actually I think the even trickier question is when do you LEAVE KM.

Good point - although who wants to camp at KM for 2 weeks?

Kennedy Meadows is a great spot. It would be easy to spend two weeks there, exploring, fishing and climbing peaks. Crag Peak and Smith Mountain are fun 3rd class climbs. You could go up the trail a couple of days to climb Olancha Peak, one of the best peaks in the Sierra.

I Google imaged searched for Olancha Peak and this is what I got:

... So I would have to agree, the views are good from Olancha Peak and I would definitely hike to that :-)

Olancha is a short class 2 climb from the PCT and well worth the effort.

New start date is May 12. Anyone else have a new date? They still have a few first week of April available as of 2pm PST.
