watching some BMT hiker vids on youtube, looked like the guy was carrying a sleeping pad made form a strip of reflectix.

I doubt I would do that, but maybe I'll try a piece as a camp seat.....

thoughts?

Car sun screens work to and are cheep. But not to warm and to thin for me to sleep on.

If you put that in your bag you'd probably heat up a good bit. I've used it hammocking in Winter in conjunction with another pad. Mine between my bag and the hammock, with my "real" pad inside my sleeping bag. I didn't have a UQ but this worked. But for your only pad it wouldn't be particularly comfortable on the ground.

Adds lil R value in addition to inflatable...I pulled one out of my neighbors trash awhile ago but since buying an xtherm haven't even tried it...

It works like a champ for 3/4 of the seasons here in the southeast.

Reflectrix is basically bubble wrap covered in mylar. If you use it for a sleeping or sitting pad, those bubbles will pop. I have a couple of reflectrix coozies for freezer bag cooking that are a few years old. After carrying them in my pack, sandwiched between my pack's back panel and my folded up sleeping pad, they are a lot thinner than the replacement coozie I recently made.

I use a piece to supplement my CCF pad in winter, never by itself. Works great on snow.

What ccf pad you pair with?

The dollar store car sunscreen I have is silver mylar over a thin sheet of flexible polystyrene. Similar idea. Probably more durable. I carry it to sit on when the ground is wet. It is the floor for my tent vestibule. It can add a little insulation to my pad and/or protect the inflatable pad from punctures. Makes a good wind screen around a stove too. I figure it can also work as a giant signaling mirror is lost.

Also, these sun screens can be cut up and taped together to make a nice pot or freezer bag cozy. I had a pot cozy made with reflectix but the bubbles popped over time and it got rather sad looking.

I use a 2'x2' piece for a camp chair/place to set shoes at night/emergency cold spot relief. It works great, and after after more than a year, it still looks new and works fine. The bubbles do not pop, and I pack enough weight to give it a stress test. It also packs easily as it folds or rolls up. Get it.

Z-rest, but the brand doesn't matter much.

Thx I've got one also for speed but definitely lacking in comfort! I just packed mine for my sup expedition..the ease of set up definitely has advantages after a long day!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170217/ce111c3281dc3b8f58963cd0b46af0be.jpg
