These are so much better tasting and no where as greasy as the canned French's brand. They are a high fat food! Most of the fat coming from the NON GMO canola oil which is a rare situation that canola oil is non GMO. Kudos to DANG Onion Chips for their minimal ingredient list and using NON GMO ingredients. Paid $3.99 for the ones I bought. Note: these will give you onion breathe. Great as a different kind of snack or garnished on other foods. Added some to a hummus and greens wrap. They took the flavor and cal/oz rations up a notch.

Canola oil (from rapeseed) is a highly processed polyunsaturated oil made at high temperatures. It is highly inflammatory and worse...

LOL. THX for sharing this. You sound like me. I really appreciate you sharing this!

I checked out the first article. Last one wasn't available. DANG is using non GMO Canola oil. Although canola oil can be processed at high temps making it hydrogenated turning it into a trans fat - potentially highly pro inflammatory - not all canola oil has this trait. The non GMO canola DANG is using is not hydrogenated, not a GMO(something like 90% of all rapeseed is and is also why health food nuts like you and me have parted companies with canola oil), and is food grade with a low erucic acid content(2 % max in the U.S.). However, I'm not sure if the Non GMO FOOD GRADE canola(LEAR) oil DANG is using is cold pressed. It is a processed oil. But so are coconut, fish, cod liver, olive, peanut, grape seed, walnut, and flaxseed oils to name a few. Even so, I totally agree with you Roc Doc. I too always avoid NON GMO canola oil. Canola oil in any version is not part of the diet I regularly consume.

Just got up the second link. I think Dr Axe's comments have to be taken in context of what I just shared. FWIW as far as I know erucic acid content is not just lowered by GM rapeseed as defined by modern day GM methods. There are true traditional hybridization techniques that result in lower erucic acid content rapeseed NON GMO cultivars. Plus the methods that are used to process food grade canola oil further remove erucic acid content.

Seems some scare tactics and confusion is being disseminated to equate food oils used for non food grade commercial lubrication applications with food grade oils.

Getting some oil industry bias with this study but this is one of my sources. http://www.ocl-journal.org/articles/ocl/pdf/2015/03/ocl150011-s.pdf

DANG is an Asian name. It's the name of the mother of one of the companies founders.
