View Full Version : motel in Campo?
Heading East on 8 from San Diego, I passed the Campo exit. Up to now, this is as far as I've ever been on 8. Continuing in, I was surprised to see a 2nd Campo exit, and I think there was a motel. Wondering if someone knows how close this motel is to the terminus...
Thanks!
Go to postholer and look at the PCT google map.
Twin Lakes Resort. 11 miles west of Campo.
Mountain Empire Campgrounds. 3.6 miles west of Campo.
Anything on I-8 or Old Hwy 80, been there before, is farther away.

I'm guessing that what you saw at the eastern, second, Campo exit was the Golden Acorn Casino and Truck Stop. No accommodations.
I hope this helps.

I don't think it was either of these two. I just got a quick glimpse of it, but it looked more like a dump of a motel, rather than a campground. Plus I think I was already 5 or more miles east of the 1st exit - so it doesn't seem that the motel is really west of campo. Unless that exit winds around a lot...
But I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the 1st time! ?

Postholer's not coming up on my phone, for some reason. I'm traveling, so it'll be a while before I can try the laptop...
When you stop for the night look at a real map.
Read Post #4.
The first Campo exit is well north of Campo. The second exit is south and east of the first but still well north of Campo. That's where the Casino and the border patrol station are.
Back to Post #4:
The resort is at the same latitude as Campo and 11 miles west. The campground is south of Campo and closer to the border about 3.5 west. A road connects Campo, campground and Resort.
Clear as mud?

Ok, I'm looking at my humongous map, and I see the two exits, and agree with you about where they are in relation to Campo. I don't information in those businesses you nentioned.
I know where the border patrol station is. Maybe the casino is up the road, close to that exit, but it isn't within seeing distance of the border station. There's a store there.
I'm gonna figure this out!

it's probably not as hard to figure out as some would make it.
The businesses are shown on Google Maps.
To answer your original question:
The only two commercial accommodations are the Resort and the campground in post #4.
The Border Patrol folks are between the two exits. Sue me. The casino is just past the second exit. No active motel in the area.

See you Wednesday.
