N to S(Springer to Davenport Gap)

I am planning on a section hike of the AT covering Springer Mt to Davenport Gap.

Should I hike N to S or S to N?

Where is a good place to park my car?

I'm certain that other Whiteblaze members will be better sources of up to date information but I can offer this. Amicalola state park is located at the beginning of the approach trail to Springer mountain. In 2102 they permitted long term parking for AT hikers. I don't know if that's still the case. The only parking on the Davenport Gap end that might be considered safe would be at Standing Bear farm. The parking rates there were $5.00 a day the last time I was there. You can give Standing Bear a call at 423-487-0014.

Cheaper and safer to park at Amicalola Falls State Park. $55 for a year to park.

Also, assuming that you are leaving soon, you will be behind the bubble, instead of walking past a lot of it.
