This is what was reviled: Snow capped summits from this weekends Nor'easter. Good thing the trees aren't all leafed out yet.

Mt Madison to the left, Mt Adams to the right.

The Mount Washington Observatory recorded a total of 33.3" of new snow for the storm, breaking their previous May record.

Wow, the "Seven" filled back in Kings Ravine. It was previously looking a bit rough. Given the forecast for the rest of the week I expect the new snow will disappear quick.

I wonder how much snow drifted in the col below Madison Spring Hut. That usually gets pretty deep throughout the Winter and takes awhile to melt.

The gullies in King Ravine are still filled in petty good, like the "Seven" mentioned by Peakbagger. Popular winter trails remain a narrow, icy monorail in shady spots above 3,000 feet. All the streams and rivers are flowing to capacity. The waterfalls are pretty spectacular. It's spring time in the North Country.

We did a waterfall tour a couple weekends ago. Pretty amazing falls and a great way to spend a rainy weekend. Jackson Falls, Glen Ellis, Arethusa Falls, Diana's Baths, Crawford Notch.

... and then 3 days later it was in the 60's on top of Mt. Washington and 90 degrees in Boston.

Doing AT hut to hut SoBo from Mitzpah starting 6/1. Will I need microspikes? Gaiters? Thanks!

You may find stretches of monorail (packed frozen snow) in the woods on occasion. Your call if you want to deal with it with or without microspikes.

The hike was terrific. Glad for the gaiters in the mud and a little snow in the trail but didn't end up needing the spikes.

How were the bugs?

How were the bugs?

Pretty nonexistent. A few lazy skeeters and a non-biting fly or two were all we spotted. No deet applied after the first day. No bites.
