Looking to see if the stretch between Arlington-Stratton rd and Manchester center in Vermont is doable as an overnight. It s only 17 miles but I am not sure of the terrain. Thanks Tenlots

Yes, that can be done as an overnight without any trouble.

The climb up and over Stratton Mountain is a bit of a grunt, but worth it for the view from the fire tower. Stratton pond is a very popular area so weekends are busy. Don't go on a holiday weekend!

The trail from Stratton pond to Prospect rock is old woods road and easy, but can be wet during the season. The climb up and over Spruce peak is gradual.

The Williams Dougless shelter is 1/2 mile off the trail, so most walk by it. The Spruce Peak Shelter is a four sided cabin and still has a wood stove, the last shelter on the LT with one. But as a result, the place stinks of wood smoke and is very dark. Tenting at Stratton pond is the thing to shoot for.
