An article on Earl Shaffer and his AT journey. Short but concise.

With this link you can read his actual journal.

Anyone can help the Smithsonian transcribe books like this. I helped on the Earl Shaffer Diary project transcribing several pages including the page where he climbs Katahdin. I thought it was pretty cool to be a part of that. By the way Earl's handwriting is atrocious!

By the way Earl's handwriting is atrocious!Years ago I also was part of a group that did this - The Gutenberg Project. I read "Walking with Spring" last year. Is the journal the same, or more detail oriented?
