Siler Bald

It's been years since I have been on top of Siler Bald and I cannot remember how many good tent spots are available up on top. Anyone remember?

Also, I think I remember having Verizon service on top, but cannot be sure. Can anyone confirm? 4G LTE?

If you are asking about the Siler's Bald by Franklin, NC, I was there about 6 weeks ago. There are several places to tent right on top, plus a fire ring. I was able to get texts out no problem and I also have Verizon service. From the top of Siler's Bald looking towards Wayah Bald, you can really see the fire damage from last fall's wild fires. :)

There's a nice little field at the bottom as well. It was ugly windy at the top. I set up at the bottom, climbed to view the sunset, and walked back down to my comfy tent out of the wind.

Siler's Bald in GSMNP. Siler Bald near Franklin. Named after two different Silers. Brothers, I think.

Camped up there a couple years ago. We had three tents with room for several more. Carrying water (for dinner and breakfast) uphill from the shelter was fun...but it was worth it for the sunset and sunrise photos.
