BronK, Have you been here before? It certainly Looks promising! After I get my nails done (I'll tell them you sent me), I'm thinking of an establishment that might be kosher with me bringing a full pack in and sitting for a few hours, perhaps to eat and /or drink coffee. Or even better an outside seating area restaurant. Anyone else have recommendations?

Head down to the river front park area, Brew pub, food trucks, usually a small event or two each weekend.

TJ - Are the food trucks there on weekdays? Thanks for the suggestions! We will be there on Tuesday...

I think so, summer season is short, can't take many days off in Maine. Have a fun trip!

Your problem is small. My arrival is in Atlanta and my flight departure is also from there. That means I have to ride a moose back to where I started

I live in bar harbor. And Bangor is not a place I enjoy sorry to say. However, downtown has numerous restaurants and pubs with outdoor seating. Being a hiker You might blend in well with the transient community. ;)

I assume you are beginning a trip and catching the bus to Medway? When will you be there?

I like Teej's idea. I like to further digest contemplating deeply on how I've changed, what new things were learned, what people I've met, what might could be better done, etc while it's still fresh after a hike especially a long one. Heading to the park near water, getting some food and maybe a real cup of good Joe, finding a comfy place to sit/sprawl looking up at the sky, etc would be a good place to do that. I find it's nice after that to be in the company of other thrus so we all can do this.

Sometimes on trail on a LD when we get into a LD hiker mindset we can forget to do this weekly, daily, hourly.

BTW, after a NOBO AT thru where I went down Knifes Edge with Nelson Daigle after him doing doing his 300 th Mt Katahdin summit and my two brothers, one his first and the other bro summiting after falling short because of weather two previous attempts the day before, I was fortunate to stay in Earl's Room at the Appalachian Trail Lodge which seemed so fitting.

There are indeed food trucks on the waterfront during the week. The Sea Dog brew pub is right next door, and you can walk to downtown where there are many other options in about five minutes. Walk across the bridge to Brewer and there is another brew pub called Mason's that is pretty good. Walk 10 minutes from downtown to reach the casino and Geaghan's brew pub. Bangor is a small city but there is quite a bit going on. If there are specific things you like to do, I can recommend other options.
