As a lot of you are aware, back in 2010 Forrest Fenn claims to have hid a small treasure chest filled with gold and gems somewhere in the Rocky Mountains worth about 2 million dollars. He left a poem with 9 clues to the whereabouts of the treasure. Since then 3 people have died searching for the treasure, one just recently. (http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/forrest-fenn-treasure-hunt-may-have-claimed-its-third-victim-n788191)

Just wondering if anyone here has searched for the treasure. What do you think the poem means? Where do you think a good place to start would be or any other thoughts on this.

After researching this a bit I don't think it's a hoax. I don't think I would start searching unless I was pretty sure I was starting in the right spot hence the first clue: "Begin where the warm waters halt". But since I'm not too familiar with the Rockys I could use some help.
===========================================
The poem
As I have gone alone in there
And with my treasures bold,
I can keep my secret where,
And hint of riches new and old.
Begin it where warm waters halt
And take it in the canyon down,
Not far, but too far to walk.
Put in below the home of Brown.
From there it’s no place for the meek,
The end is ever drawing nigh;
There’ll be no paddle up your creek,
Just heavy loads and water high.
If you’ve been wise and found the blaze,
Look quickly down, your quest to cease,
But tarry scant with marvel gaze,
Just take the chest and go in peace.
So why is it that I must go
And leave my trove for all to seek?
The answers I already know,
I’ve done it tired, and now I’m weak.
So hear me all and listen good,
Your effort will be worth the cold.
If you are brave and in the wood
I give you title to the gold.

Good Luck! And most of all have fun!

Hmmm...the first thing that came too my mind after reading the poem was the Arkansas river Browns Canyon. That's where he disappeared.

Yes! I can't remember if there is one around there but the chances are good as there are hot springs all over in the rockies

I've rafted the Arkansas through the Royal Gorge 3 times many years ago.

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkFunny after this thread last night a show on Fenns gold was on the tele. It reminded me of a book that came out sometime in the early 80's. Supposedly there were clues in the book to a treasure, can't recall the name of it but I think it had a horse on the cover.
