Going out on Sep 8th from the approach trail to NOC. Has anyone been out that way this past week or so? Just wondering what the water sources are like. Guthooks has very few updates since may.

IF you don't get the feedback you are wanting, call Ron Brown in my signature, he stays very up to date on things like water availability in the GA NC stretch.

I plan to be out at a couple locations near Unicoi and Dicks Creek Gap this coming weekend, I plan to update Guthooks and I can drop a mention here too if you like.

Based on the rain that came through North Georgia at the end of last week, I would say there is good water. And beautiful weather, unseasonably cool.

Water source just below Blue Mountain Shelter was pretty low, actually worse than last year in July during the drought. You will need a scoop or a pump filter to gather water. You could use a bag but you would end up with a ton of sediment. Best spot was maybe 1" deep.

Piped spring at 68.2 in Guthooks: Slow flow out of the pipe but good flow otherwise. There was actually more water flowing around the pipe area than out of the pipe. You could easily get water here with a bag or bottle.

Stream at 68.9 in Guthooks: Awesome cascading water fall with great flow. I filled a 4L bag in ~30 seconds here.
