For Immediate Release
September 22, 2017
RIGHT TO HIKE ANNOUNCES 10th AND FINAL ELLA’S RUN PRESENTED BY GEORGIA’S OWN CREDIT UNION

The October 21st event will be last event the organization will host
(Atlanta, GA) – Right to Hike, Inc. was founded to honor the life of Meredith Hope Emerson who lost her life while hiking in the North Georgia Mountains on New Year’s Day 2008. Emerson was a Buford, Georgia resident who loved the outdoors, her black lab Ella and the community. The main goals of this non-profit are to continue to contribute to the things Meredith loved and strive to make the outdoors a safer place that people can enjoy without fear.
The organization has decided that the 10th Annual Ella’s Run on October 21st will be the last year for the event. “We all discussed the milestone of 10 years and we decided we would like to go out on top and make this year the best event yet. It was a very difficult decision to make, but we thought it was the best for everyone involved. We are so honored for how the community has supported Right to Hike and honored Meredith’s memory. We will never have words to express our gratitude,” as stated by Julia Karrenbauer, President of Right to Hike. Inc.
Right to Hike, Inc. has donated nine (9) emergency phone units throughout the community to help make the outdoors a safer place for everyone. The nonprofit has also contributed funds towards Emerson’s scholarship at the University of Georgia and supported various animal organizations.
As in years past Ella’s Run will continue to encourage participants and spectators to bring their dogs to enjoy the wonderful day. Registration will include the race, a custom long sleeve t-shirt, prizes for top finishers and a festival complete with food, a beer garden, raffle items, and vendors. Early registration is available now at www.EllasRun.org (http://www.ellasrun.org/newsletter/newsletters/10th-annual-ellas-run-announcement/?type=1342671779&tx_newsletter_p%5Bn%5D=21&tx_newsletter_p%5Bl%5D=30be9913a076ffa90d9233f6a17 a1eab&tx_newsletter_p%5Baction%5D=clicked&tx_newsletter_p%5Bcontroller%5D=Link). “We are looking forward to making this event the best one we have had yet. We cannot wait to see everyone who has supported us over all of these years and hope they bring even more friends, family and, of course, their dogs with them. We could not have done any of this without all of them and certainly not without Georgia’s Own Credit Union,” says Brent Seyler, Vice President of Right to Hike, Inc.
Once again pre-registration and race packet pick up will be available on Friday, October, 20th at Georgia’s Own Credit Union’s Buford Location. Race registration is now open.
