I sewed these stuff bags into my skins to hold the hammock straps. It works pretty good.

There is velcro inside the stuff sack ends, so it holds the wrapped up straps no problem.

If I were doing it again, I would try leaving the skin fabric full width and not cut it to keep it strong. Also maybe pinch the opening down to the middle of the skin instead of to one side.

Actually it seems to work fine as is, I just wonder about the strength of the narrow part.

I used double sided velcro at the other end of the skins, for a very tight closure. There is extra velcro strap so that you can wrap it around the narrow part of the skins to create a loop, which might be useful when hanging the loop outside the pack or around the shoulders.

Very nice...I was not aware the snakeskins did not go the whole length to include the hammock straps.

By the way on lyour cruisenews backpacking photos
I was curious as to the size and type of tarp you were using.

The tarp is a Campmor 8x10 nylon tarp. It is not the lightweight one, just the regular nylon tarp. #22217

At first I thought it would be too heavy but after seeing the forces on it in the wind, I think it will do.

Thanks so much....after last night with wind gusts 40 mph hitting my HH tarp over my hammock...I want a larger tarp.
I could not stay warm, even with my new weathershield underpad I had made. I found the tarp just a tad too small.
Looking into that now...I love Campmor and REI only two places that will ship to me at no extra charge :)

Nice setup on the stuff sacks, skylark. I always just fold my hammock over a couple of times, wrap the tree hugger straps around the middle of the bundle, and then wrap the support ropes around that. It keeps everything in one compact bundle.
