Hello! I am new here and fairly new to hiking. Are fires allowed around Blood Mt. during good conditions. I know it has been dry here but rain is coming this weekend hopefully. Planning a hike in a few weeks.

As I understand it, no fires from neels to slaughter gap.

I remember this being posted last time I was up there.

You can have a fire pretty much anywhere else, but Blood Mountain is unique for a number of reasons. One is that if fires were allowed, there would be no trees left around the summit.

I didn't think about that. Makes sense.

This land belongs to the US Forest Service, they do from time to time put up a fire ban. It does not happen very often. If they were to have a fire ban they would post signs and the "Trail Updates" section of the ATC webpage will announce it.

I have seen signs during a drought like last November when there were several wild fires but the ban around Blood Mt. must be to keep certain people from chopping down green trees as Slo-go'en pointed out.
