I have a different quilt than this one but it is more than warm to 40 with minimal base layer.

Below that I need to block air movement and add layers.

Is that generally true or are some brands warmer warmer than others with the same fill?

Warmth is based mostly on loft, so if two quilts have the same fill and same amount, I would think they would have the same loft. There could be some variation due to shell material and construction.

If two quilts have similar weights one could be warmer then the other due to the type and quality of the down used.

thanks. That was what I was thinking and what made sense, but I kept thinking that maybe I was missing something.

that massdrop link has the wrong specs for the zpacks 20f. you'll notice the standard/broad list about 9 oz fill, which is wrong and more like 40f bag

generally if the down is the same fill power (zpacks are 900 and others offer 850 at a better price) and your dimensions are similar, it should be same warmth. For me with quilts it's more about the ability to control draft and concentrate the down on my core/chest. Once I optimized that, I can go to the temp spec more easily.
Initially I had more issues with shifting down, drafts, etc, that I worked through with my HG quilt.
