Hi Everyone,
I'm continuing to post about Gerry in this forum (Health, Safety & Hygiene).
Why this forum? In today's world, many have lost their spiritual connection and sense that something is missing. Hiking was one of the ways that Gerry used to connect with his spiritual aspects, to strengthen the linkage between heaven and earth, as he explored and enjoyed nature. Perhaps this is also a reason why many are hiking, seeking a way to re-discover their spiritual connection and purpose here on earth.
I'm sharing Gerry's wisdom, mantras, principles and aspects of his nature so that anyone, especially those involved with the AT, can get to know Gerry and be able to reach out and connect to Gerry's turtle energy, to be your spiritual trail guide and protector. If you've already connected with Gerry, please feel free to share. ♥
With love.

Dunno, seems like most turtles I've met are pretty low energy. Hope there's enough to go around.

There is so much out there then is commonly known. Spirit animals (guides) is just a part of the total picture. Over the years I have mapped out some of the energy centers, lay lines and the like in the NY Hudson Valley, and have met a person in area around the Smokies who has done likewise, I also guide spiritual hikes and have received comments of how it changed people's lives for the better. The patterns of energy are the patterns of life and is something we are made to connect with. It is something the first people knew and was a natural part of their culture, many things can be learned from them. This energy transfer happens if we are aware of these energy patterns or not, but helpful to be aware (and where spirit guides come into play) as knowing where to go helps over just wandering.

What we seem to be having is a revival of sorts as people are getting out there in numbers not seen ever, people are enjoying it and the energy that they receive, but really unguided, blindly wandering and more awareness of what's out there, and also how to respect it would be helpful for all.

Good to hear someone else is doing this.

Hi Rafe,
Here's more on turtle energy:
Gerry resonated with turtles (the oldest and wisest of the animal kingdom).
Gerry brought us many gifts and lessons throughout his life (patience, persistence, determination, living in the now, innocence & fresh perspective, longevity of the soul, connecting heaven and earth, respect for Mother Earth, knowing that we are connected to an eternal source of unconditional love and wisdom, feminine energy, cycles of the moon, endurance & standing the test of time, vast journeys, protection & being protective, steadfastness & security, faithfulness, following the divine path, trusting and using your intuition). These gifts and lessons can be referred to as turtle energy or turtle qualities.
See also the thread on Gerry's turtle mantra - you have the power! and other threads on the Straight Forward forum.

Hi Grubbster,
Are turtles really slow or is this their way of controlling time - a longevity mechanism?
Turtles have subtle energies that we may not be able to recognize immediately. :)
With love. ♥

Hi Starchild,

Yes, there's more out there. Gerry passed away on the AT on Aug. 20, doing what he loved - hiking and mapping the energies.
Gerry was always a source of love, and his energy transformed into an expansive heart energy that can be accessed by anyone, if they choose to do so.

As a turtle spirit whose inherent energies are to act as a guide and protector, Gerry can guide those on their spiritual paths. He had a lot of earth magic, and could sense these earth energies easily.

Thank you for naming these other sources of energy. By accessing Gerry's energy, I can also sense and map out these energies. I'll be posting more on this. Some are drawn to the AT energies, and therein begins their spiritual awakening. A guide helps those on a spiritual journey to recognize which energies to work with and which to avoid because not all energies work with everyone. Trust and respect go hand in hand with compassion and love.

With love ♥

Gerry's spiritual path.

Lessons, exercises and practices to start you on your spiritual path:

Baby steps
Step #1

Do you use all your senses or do you rely on only 1 or 2 of them?
Do your senses work together?
Can you fully experience something with all your senses?

Exercise to practice using your senses:

For each color below, describe it using your 5 physical senses (sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste). Use your imagination and intuition, inspiration from others or nature. Write this down, perhaps in a chart, you'll be using it later. Leave space in your chart to add in a sample of each color.

red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and violet.

Sounds simple, right? Which sense/color was most challenging to you?

I saw a video of a turtle trying to mate with a plastic tricycle. It fell over backward. While I can relate to the turtle's desires, I have trouble considering it particularly smart, let alone the wisest of the animals.

Gerry's spiritual path.

Lessons, exercises and practices to start you on your spiritual path:
Baby steps
Step #2

Review your physical senses description for each of the 7 colors, you may wish to update them, or if you weren't able to come up with a sound for a color or two, then add these in. Once you're satisfied with your sensory descriptions, then proceed to the next action below.

In your color chart, add in or attach as sample of each of the 7 colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and violet). To add in, you colored pencil, marker, crayon, etc. You can also attach something to your chart that reflects each of your colors (my red may be different than your red). Ideally, you want your chart to be portable (unless you set this up in a specific location) so attach items that are light-weight and may also be fold-able.

Find a spot in which you can relax (and where you're not operating a motor vehicle or powered equipment, etc.).

Starting with red, experience each color in sequence through your physical senses for 20 seconds up to 2 minutes. If you have difficulty experiencing one or two of the senses for a particular color, tap in to turtle spirit energy to help. Then, experience each sequence color in reverse order starting with violet and ending with red. Practice this one to three times per day. ♥

Who's to say what is the spiritual path of this turtle in the video. Even the wisest of animals choose to experience life in different ways.

Turtle spirit qualities or energies are different than actual behaviors of an animal. Think of humans and archetypes....

Some what depressing to know people are making spiritual connections on the trail when I find it difficult to do much beyond concentrate on the trail and focus on not doing something stupid when not hiking- like leaving something behind at your camp site.
I just spent a week on the trail and both my wife(at home) and I expected a lot of deep thinking/reflection to occur, after all, that happens while working(when its tedious or repetitive mostly), driving and at other times one might not expect. Once it became obvious that I wasnt going to re-invent my life while hiking I started to think that maybe I(and therefore others perhaps) had less need of thinking deeply about life then of just getting away from day to day modern life and back to basic no BS living day to day.
Still trying to figure out why I even like LD hiking/backpacking, but I'm beginning to suspect its mostly due to the simplicity of trail life not requiring much deep thinking. Spent a lot of my life keeping my mind busy, maybe it wants a break :-?

Hi Crossup,
Spiritual hiking don't necessarily mean doing a lot of deep thinking/reflection.
In fact, using these baby steps can help your brain be alert to your surroundings while you're enjoying the simplicity of just hiking (not being overloaded), the connection to earth and heaven, and connecting through your heart energy.
Many have lost their spiritual connections and do various activities, particularly outdoors, in an attempt to reconnect.
So, keeping getting away from modern life, keep going on your spiritual path - baby steps. Become more integrated with nature to manifest.

Ironee, I know they are two different things, the point being backpack hiking was more immersive than I had expected so it tends to exclude some things more than I expected- I see lots of references to the "green tunnel" and the need to actively look for the beautiful as its easy to end up spending the day looking at your shoes. I was indeed overloaded(40+lb pack, not what you meant I'm sure ) which actually helped by forcing rest stops and a slow pace, both of which gave me time to take in nature. I also make a point of keeping a days hike well under my capablities so I can in fact, take time to see the sights if going off trail is required for that

Ironee
10-16-2017, 18:43
Hi Crossup,

Thanks for sharing and clarifying.
Immersive, great that you can get away and "be" in nature. Overloaded, you checked it out, and in future hikes you may choose to travel lighter, or not.

Green tunnel (not sure this was referenced in this post), looking for the beautiful, all well and good. The hike is as long as you want to make it. Taking in nature, usually means looking, breathing in fresh air, resting, smelling the scent of the woods, etc. All good stuff. The path of your hike is yours to determine as well, including your spiritual path in life.

Part of the attraction of hiking is rhythm, including pauses. :)
We're beings that have various rhythms and frequencies - breathing, circulation, brainwaves, etc.

When we're out in nature, we're able to connect with parts of nature that also have natural (for the most part) rhythms and frequencies (unlike a good part of our man-made world). When you're out in nature, you can adjust your rhythms to entrain with nature's rhythms. ♥

Gerry's spiritual path.

Lessons, exercises and practices to start you on your spiritual path:
Baby steps
Step #3

What's your favorite place in nature? Describe your favorite nature place using your 5 physical senses (sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste), connect to your place. Walk around your nature place, picture yourself there, taking in the scents, fully experiencing this nature place. Write down your description of your nature place.

Now, put steps 2 & 3 together.

After you've experienced the color violet, then focus on arriving at your nature place. Fully experience your nature place, feel connected to the earth (even if you're in water or the air). Your nature place will ground you to earth's energies. Do this for a few minutes.

Next, when you're ready to leave your nature place, experience each sequence color in reverse order starting with violet and ending with red.

Practice this one to three times per day. ♥

I find it incredibly fascinating to see how others cope with life on a daily basis. If this line of thought is what it takes for the OP to cope with daily life and not go "Las Vegas" then more power to them. Definitely not my cup of tea though. Guess I'm just not that spiritual, especially about turtles. On the other hand they do make good soup.

Just to be clear, I'm a science/tech guy and while I have a big box in my head labeled "what I dont understand", I can assure anyone trying to lead me to enlightenment that my prejudices will prevent success.
FWIW, my sister has in all seriousness informed me that god told her he's going to visit me and make me a believer, still waiting for that after 40 years.
Meanwhile my philosophy is: your beliefs are yours and mine are mine, you want to convert me? show me scientific proof.

People have different belief systems. Some people handle grief in different ways, particularly if it is a close family member. How one might react to the death of a brother, sister, father, mother, son, or daughter is hard to say. You can put the thread on ignore, or simply choose not to read it. And certainly no one is forcing you to read and post to it.

One of my best friends in high school lost his younger sister he was close to in car accident when 16. He was never the same. We couldnt get him to go anywhere, do anything anymore for next several years. Some people have really difficult time with loss. If someone tries to find something positive in it by sharing, that OK. When doors close, others open , for everyone.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your posts. These threads may resonate with some however not all.

Continuation of Gerry's spiritual path (some sci-tech background):

There is science behind the baby steps that have been outlined in previous posts (pathway to neuroplasticity). Science indicates that using your physical senses to describe and sense a color will enable your mind to produce different brain waves. These brain waves allow us to interact (or not) with whatever is around us, including nature. In regular day to day activities, most of us produce beta brain waves. Using baby steps described in previous posts can help get us to alpha brain waves where we can integrate our right and left brains, sense and interact with our surroundings. This is the purpose of the baby steps, to get us to the state where we can, as electromagnetic generators, to interact with other electromagnetic generators. Note however, that not all electromagnetic resonators will harmonize with our electromagnetic state. More on this later......

Just keep practicing the baby steps, and note the progression from beta to alpha brain waves in the image below. ♥

Continuation of Gerry's spiritual path (more sci-tech background):

The heart is the largest EMF generator in the human body.
Here's a link that describes this further (under HEART FACTS) as well as interaction with the brain:

http://www.healingheartpower.com/power-heart.html

Nameste ♥

Ironee
10-27-2017, 10:31
More sci-tech info:

SQUID (Superconducting Quantum Interference Device) magnetometers have used to determine the magnetic field strength of the heart and the brain - the heart's magnetic field is about 100 times stronger than the brain's, and the heart's electrical field is about 60 times stronger than the brain's.

https://www.heartmath.org/research/research-library/energetics/energetic-heart-bioelectromagnetic-communication-within-and-between-people/

So, what's the correlation between this information and Gerry's baby steps? Practicing the baby steps helps you to regulate/control the EMF of both the heart and the brain, and to bring their output frequencies in to coherence, to work together, and to be more adaptive to whatever is in a person's environment (including elements of nature, the earth, etc.).

So, keep practicing the baby steps. Practice until you can do the color sequence to the nature spot and the reverse color sequence easily, and within a few seconds - until it becomes a habit (takes roughly 30 days of consistent practice to entrench a habit). Remember that you need to use all 5 physical senses to experience each color and the nature spot.

There are more baby steps following these preliminary baby steps which will be shared in the future.

Add-on to Gerry's baby steps.

Before doing the color sequence, be sure to be in a relaxed state (muscles are not tensed up). Progressive muscle relaxation is one of many techniques that can help you quickly relax all your muscles so that you can then remove barrier to getting in to the alpha state and your nature spot. Again, with practice, progressive muscle relaxation can be done in a few seconds just by thinking about it or by calling up your routine for progressive relaxation.

So, now you can practice the baby steps with this add-on.

More later on baby steps.

Step #4 - Creating your Mind Studio

Time to build your Mind Studio. What's a Mind Studio? It's a structure that you've created in your imagination to be used when you're in alpha mode (generating alpha brainwaves). A Mind Studio is different than a Mind Palace (for all you Sherlock Holmes fans) which is used to recall memories and experiences. A Mind Studio can be used to harmonize left/right brains, recognize other energy patterns around you (other people, animals, nature, earth structures, etc.), make new neural pathways, enable you to train for and do better at hiking, etc.

Use your imagination and five physical senses to build your Mind Studio.
Your Mind Studio can be located anywhere (on a mountain, under water, in a tree, on a different planet, wherever). It can be constructed of any materials you imagine. It's your Mind Studio, yours to connect to and use. Take the time to build it and try it out, if you want to change something about it, now's the time before we start using it. The more detail you have in your mind studio, the more it will work for you.

Your mind studio needs to include the following:
1. a entrance/door that only you know about
2. an office area (desk & chair, notepad & pen, clock, calendar, phone, screen)
3. a healing area including any items you identify as helpful to you for recovery (who hasn't had blisters, sore feet from hiking ???)
4. a recreation area for sports, hobbies, relaxation
5. a library (books, recordings, etc.)
6. optional (for business types) - a business meeting area (flip chart or writing board, meeting table & chairs)
7. any other area that you would like to add to it

And, keep practicing the muscle relaxation and the first 3 baby steps! More later on how to use your Mind Studio. Nameste ♥

Step #5 - Installing an access device (entrance/exit) to your Mind Studio

While you're in the process of creating your Mind Studio, here's another must-have to install:
an access device to your Mind Studio (such an elevator, sliding door, etc.)

Why do you need an access device? This is for visitors to your Mind Studio since they won't be using your entrance/door that only you know about. This access device gives you the choice to let visitors in, lets you unplug from the craziness and over-stimulation of your outside world.

The access device needs to have a control button or panel that lets you know when you have visitors (could be a ring-tone, bell, etc.). You can decide whether or not to give them access so build in something that you can use to let visitors in (such as a button to open an elevator door). After you open the access device to let visitors in, when the visitors step out/in to your Mind Studio, they will be showered with white light for a few seconds - this purifies them so that they don't bring any contamination in to your Mind Studio. Also, when your visitors are ready to leave, they pass under the white light shower before exiting through your access device.

Keep working on the construction of your Mind Studio. There will be a few other installations required before you begin to use it when you're in alpha state. Nameste ♥

So look, The OP is trying to pass on the memories and beliefs, I'll say honor, her late loved one who died on this trail that we all love. After Parkside died in Pierce pond on his thru hike, a group of us raised a toast in his honor while his parents were there at Lakeshore House spreading the importance on water safety. It's how they wanted to help deal with their grief. Anyone there could have chosen not to toast, or not to listen to his family. But, what a complete Ahole move it would have been to ridicule them or make fun of them for their choosing to do so. Not the time or place. Don't like the message being shared? Walk away. Or do you just absolutely have to be disrespectful to someone in mourning? Someone trying to help. Is that getting you anywhere? Do you feel better about yourself after posting such witty comments? What is your reason for contributing on this thread?

Thanks, Offshore and Putts for your comments.

Gerry's legacy, to share what he learned during his life with others, and to teach/guide them. You can check out his videos on youtube or his web site.

There's value in everything, whether it's to innovate, to balance out the duality that exists on earth, to reach out and connect with others. Not everyone has the same learning curve or path in life - Ahimsa - no judgement.

Interestingly, Offshore, you've already tapped in to some of the "future" possibilities. By ultralight, I'm assuming that you're referring to something being light in weight, however, there is also ultralight, wavelengths that the human eye doesn't see however people can perceive these wavelengths. How do humans use ultralight?

The science behind the posts (Gerry was an engineer, I'm in to science):
1. Method of loci (been around for thousands of years); evolved to neuroscience and neuroplasticity (check out some of the brain scans of people who meditate vs those who don't; recovery from injury/trauma and re-wiring the brain)
2. Wavelengths - we have instrumentation to measure these, we can scan in to outer space
3. Wavelengths that are not visible to the human eye however we use them in current technology - cell phones, radio & telecomm. x-rays, etc.

Baby steps
Step #6 - Going to/from your Mind Studio

How do you get to your Mind Studio? By taking the steps that connect your nature scene to your Mind Studio.

Here's another must-have to construct:
Use to imagination to construct steps leading from your nature scene to you Mind Studio (between 5 and 21 steps in total). The steps can go up/down, around, be over/under something else, and these steps lead you directly to your secret entrance. Use your 5 physical senses to fully describe your steps. Each step can be unique. Your steps can resemble something on Earth, or not.

Next, practice using your steps, using your 5 physical senses. You can do this in your imagination, however, if you mimic the movements using your body, you'll have a stronger ability to connect your nature scene to your Mind Studio when you are using all 5 senses.Test out your steps, and modify, if necessary.

Continue to practice your muscle relaxation and the first 3 baby steps. Refine the construction of your Mind Studio.

Step #7 - more for your secret entrance/door

Install a white light shower for your secret entrance/door. This shower should be located at the top of your secret entrance/door so that the white light can flow downwards in to the "ground". Why do you need a white light shower? This helps to cleanse you on several levels so that you are able to use your Mind Studio more effectively, that you're not surrounded with clutter, scattered thoughts, energies from others - all the stuff that prevents you from focusing on using your Mind Studio.

So, when you've reached your secret entrance/door, opened the entrance using a code or key, you then trigger the white light shower to be turned on for several seconds (or as long as you need to remove contamination from your energy fields) before you enter your Mind Studio. Practice doing this - sense the difference between before/after the white light shower.

Keep practicing your muscle relaxation and the first 3 baby steps. When you reach your nature scene, practice taking the steps to your Mind Studio, and test out your code or key to open your secret door, followed by the white light shower. Stay outside of your Mind Studio, then return down your steps and the reverse of baby steps #1-3.

How's your practicing going? Are you finding it easy to do? Let me know your progress or challenges.

Gerry's spiritual path.

Lessons, exercises and practices to start you on your spiritual path (adventure, journey):

Sequence A (baby steps)
This is short session in your Mind Studio, approx. 20-25 minutes in duration.

Find a comfortable spot and posture. If you’re lying down, do your best to stay focused and not fall asleep. If you find that you’re falling asleep, get up, walk around then find another comfortable sitting spot. Don’t do Sequence A just before going to bed or operating motorized equipment including vehicles. You can use background music, however, remember to use this music only for going in to your Mind Studio, otherwise, it may trigger the neural pathways that you’re working on creating through these exercises at an inconvenient time. The music shouldn’t put you to sleep or take you to another brain wave state (other than alpha). You can record these instructions to guide yourself during Sequence A (give yourself enough time for each activity in the sequence – you should have a rough idea from your previous practicing of the baby steps). You can also journal your experience each time you do a sequence.
START:
Take note of your starting time.
Close your eyes. Keep your arms and legs uncrossed. Make sure your breath flows easily, in and out. If your hear outside noises, acknowledge them and continue to concentrate on Sequence A.
Ensure that your muscles are relaxed (without alcohol or drugs – to enhance your body’s natural capabilities and to not dull your senses). You can use the progressive muscle relaxation technique of your choice for this.
Start by visualizing the colors in sequence - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and violet. Feel the colors surrounding you and being taken in through your breath, experience each color with your 5 physical senses. When you’ve completed the violet color, then pause.

In front of you is your nature scene. Spend 1-3 minutes walking around and enjoying your nature scene and experiencing it with your 5 physical senses.

Now look for the steps that lead from your nature scene to your Mind Studio.

Start taking the steps to your Mind Studio – you can use your legs, arms and body as if you were actually taking the steps, to embed this part of the sequence in your brain. Count each step sequentially as you take them (Step 1, Step 2, etc., you can do this out loud if you wish).
When you’ve completed all your steps, you’ve reached the secret entrance of your Mind Studio. Pause. Look around. Scan the environment around your Mind Studio.
Then, use your code or key to unlock your secret entrance and enter your Mind Studio. Pause inside.
The white light shower has been activated. Let the white light flow down and around you, and feel your scattered energies being washed off your body into the ground. The white light shower will stop after a few seconds.

Feel yourself entering your Mind Studio. You may wish to remove your shoes, hang up your coat, whatever you feel comfortable doing.

Next, stop by your office area (this is usually the first area you visit in your Mind Studio).

Are there any new messages for you on your telephone?
Is there any mail on your desk?
What date is showing on your calendar? Is there anything written on your desk calendar?
What time is it on your clock? Is the time current?
Is there anything on your screen?
Are there any messages that require your urgent attention and/or response? If yes, take action (return a phone call, write a response to a letter, remember what you need to do today and any future events posted on your calendar).
Take note of non-urgent messages.
You can use the pen and notepad on your desk to write down these non-urgent messages so that you can remember them after you’ve completed Sequence A. (It’s best to write down these messages instead of typing them in to a computer or other electronic device).

Now, go to your recreation area. Notice if anything in your recreation area attracts your attention.
Is there a piece of equipment that you would like to use or an activity that you would like to do in your recreation area? If yes, spend a few minutes exercising or doing an activity – use your 5 physical senses while you’re doing this, moving your hands, feet and other body parts as if you were doing this exercise or activity.

It’s time to leave your mind studio now. Head back to your secret entrance, put on your shoes and coat before you exit. The white light shower will be activated for a few seconds to provide protection to you when you exit. Open your secret entrance and step through the entrance. P:ause. Let the white light shower invigorate you; when it stops, turn, and close your secret entrance.

Take the steps back to your nature scene, remembering the use your 5 physical senses, and count each step in reverse order (for example, if you have 5 steps, you’d start by saying Step 5, then Step 4, etc.).

You’re now back at your nature scene. Experience your nature scene for up to 1 minute, with your 5 physical senses.

Then, turn, and go through the visualizing and breathing in the 7 colors in reverse order (violet, purple, blue, green, yellow, orange and red). When you’ve completed the red color, then pause.

Open your eyes slowly. Regulate your breathing. Review what you experienced and jot down your notes in a journal. Rise slowly, remember to drink some water. You can now go about your day.

Keep practicing Sequence A until you can do it the entire sequence comfortably. Reach out if you have any challenges with the sequence.

Gerry's spiritual path (continuation).
Lessons, exercises and practices to start you on your spiritual path (adventure, journey):

Sequence B (baby steps) - Recreational Training

The length of your session in your Mind Studio is up to you, however, if this is the first time you've practicing Sequence B, approx. 20-25 minutes should suffice.

What you can use Sequence B to:
- practice hiking different terrains and elevations
- practice hiking with varying back-pack weights (to prepare your body for hiking season, to test out which weight works best for you to carry)
- practice hiking using different equipment (to get a feel for which equipment works best for you - including tents, sleeping bags, compasses, etc.)
- practice using different shoes or socks (evaluate which combination gives you less foot sores, etc.)
- other combinations that you want to practice or test out for hiking
* you can also use this for other sports, recreational activities

Start with Sequence A until you reach your recreation area in your Mind Studio.

Your hiking gear (clothing, equipment, tools, etc.) are already in your recreation area. Change in to your hiking clothes and select which gear you want to practice with - this includes any items that you may want to purchase however haven't actually bought yet. It's recommended to test out only 1 or 2 variations in clothing or gear or terrain when you first start practicing.

Imagine the location where your hike will take place - use your 5 physical senses for this. Your recreation area will expand so that your hiking location is contained within your recreation area.

Now you can start practicing. Use your 5 physical senses and body movements to hike in your recreation area. If you're testing out different clothing, gear, back-pack weights, etc., then notice what works for you and what doesn't. Notice your body's reactions to changes in clothing, gear, terrain, back-pack weight. Notice your breathing, whether or not you need water, your body temperature, if you need to stop and rest. Remember to write down your observations using your notepad and pen in your office area after you've completed practicing or training.

Your hiking location will still be in your recreation area if you want to practice or train on it in the future; you can call it up with your imagination the next time you're in your recreation area.

After you've completed your practicing, notice any sore spots that need your attention. Change out of your clothing and gear. For any gear that you no longer want to consider purchasing, imagine that it's no longer in your recreation area.

You can use items in your recreation area to help with any sore spots you may have after practicing or training (shower, jacuzzi, infra-red sauna, TENS, Rub A535, etc.). When you've finished attending to your sore spots, change back in to your original clothes and go to your office area. Use the notepad and pen to make notes to your self about your experiences, what to practice or train with on your next visit, what items to purchase (or not).

It’s time to leave your mind studio now. Head back to your secret entrance, put on your shoes and coat before you exit. The white light shower will be activated for a few seconds to provide protection to you when you exit. Open your secret entrance and step through the entrance. Pause.

Open your eyes slowly. Regulate your breathing. Review what you experienced and jot down your notes in a journal. Rise slowly, remember to drink some water. You can set your training or practice visits so that you're ready for your next hike (or other recreational activity).

Reach out if you have any challenges with the Sequence B.

And with all due respect to you, Ironee, I find it ironic that you accuse mags of being opportunistic and intrusive. I think that his post and service has far more to offer those seeking such a venue that than your incessant blathering about "secret rooms" and magical "seven colors."

Perhaps you need to find your secret time-out room and chill a bit before jumping down someone's throat.

Ironee, condolences on your loss.......I find your posts interesting and appreciate your insights.

Hi Ohio Chris,

Thanks for your condolences. I'll continue to post. As I've said before, this thread isn't for everyone. It's about sharing what Gerry learned over the years and following through with his wishes. Gerry loved to teach and guide, and help others.

The sequences (and baby steps) are stronger than visualizations that athletes and others use for various performance goals. These sequences train and build the neural pathways in the brain's command center so that the brain can execute based on already developed neural pathways through the 5 physical senses. These sequences are stronger than virtual reality games because of the focus on the 5 physical senses and forming new pathways in the brain and avoiding primitive brain responses (which are appropriate for certain fight/flight circumstances, such as dangers from snakes, bears, rock slides, etc.). Also, since in today's world we're under constant stress, we're spending more time in flight/fight mode when we could be using out brains to regulate our body functions for other purposes. Feel free to reach out with any questions, happy to answer.

More on your Healing Area in your Mind Studio

What resources or tools do you have in your healing area?

You can have your usual first aid materials in either your recreation area or your healing area.

For non-first aid healing resources or tools, consider what kind of healing you anticipate needing. Your have lots of space in your healing area for equipment, tools, as well as people who can help you out. You can include people skilled in healing as well, who will appear when you need them.

Infra-red sauna

Gerry's spiritual path.

Lessons, exercises and practices to start you on your spiritual path (adventure, journey):

Sequence C (baby steps) - With a Coach or Instructor in your recreation area

This sequence is about calling in a coach or an instructor to your Mind Studio to help you attain a goal (WHAT). A coach will interact with you to together find a way to help you obtain your goal, there is communication or going back and forth to help you. An instructor will typically provide you with information or demonstrations on what you want to achieve, expect that you will understand the information or that you will be able to reproduce the demonstration, and will rarely give feedback. So, depending on what you want to accomplish, it's your choice on who you want to work with in your Mind Studio. Some basic rules: only 1 coach or instructor at a time in your Mind Studio, the coach or instructor doesn't remain in your Mind Studio after you've finished your session, and your coach or instructor needs to be willing to be in your Mind Studio to work with you.

The length of your session in your Mind Studio is up to you, however, if this is the first time you've practicing Sequence C, approx. 20-25 minutes should be sufficient.

Start with Sequence A until the part where you leave your office area. You may already picked up some idea of WHAT you would like to accomplish from your office area, or you may already know exactly what you want to achieve. Be specific in formulating your goal, for example, you'd like to be able to hike 15 miles a day on a certain part of the AT by spring 2018 carrying 30 pounds in your backpack.

After leaving your office area, go to stand in front of your access device (may be an elevator or other device). Put forward your intention to request to have the best coach or instructor most suited to you in achieving your goal at this point in time. Use your control button or panel to slowly open and ask the person who shows up in the access device if they're agreeable to helping you. If they are not agreeable, then thank them and send them back through the access device by closing the entrance - then go back and make your request again. If they are agreeable, then invite them in, they'll pause for a few seconds under the white light shower, and then step in to your Mind Studio. Invite them to a comfortable area in your Mind Studio and treat them as if they were a real person. Have a conversation with them, talk to them about your goal and what you want to do. You can make notes using your notepad and pen from your office area. If the coach or instructor wants to show you some tips, demonstrate something to you, or invites you to participate in an activity, go along with them, learn and provide feedback, ask questions, etc. This may involve changing in to different clothes or using gear in your reaction area to practice. If this is the case, then lead them to your recreation area to continue your session with them.If this is the case, then lead them to your recreation area to continue your session with them.

When you've finished your session with your coach or instructor, remember to thank them for helping you, and escort them back to your access device. Make a note if they've scheduled follow-up sessions with you. The coach or instructor then goes under the white light shower and enters the access device. You use the control button or panel to send them back.

If you have any sore spots that require attention, go back to your recreation area to treat these spots. When you're done, it's time to head back to your office and leave yourself a note if you have future sessions scheduled or make any other notes.

Head back to your secret entrance, put on your shoes and coat before you exit. The white light shower will be activated for a few seconds to provide protection to you when you exit. Open your secret entrance and step through the entrance. Pause.

Reach out if you have any challenges with the Sequence C.

Thanks, Hipbone, for sharing your experience in the woods. This thread doesn't resonate with everyone. And the intent is to share different ways to experience hiking, in particular, by providing information and guidance from Gerry that others may find useful. Hiking does have spiritual aspects - connecting with nature, challenging oneself, going inward, bonding with fellow hikers. Everyone has their own spiritual path. Ahimsa - do no harm.

Gerry's family and friends are very grateful to the ATers who met him on the trail and those who found him the day that he passed away on the trail. We're thankful that it didn't take days or months to find him as has happened with other AT hikers. And since Gerry would help anyone who needed his help, I'm passing this information on to the AT community, so that those who can benefit from this sharing will do so. Gerry wanted to leave this world a better place. In places where he hiked in Canada, he would often participate in taking care of trails and creating new ones. He respected nature in all its aspects.

More on advances in science (and why it's important to start by working with our 5 physical senses and then move on to perceiving through other senses):

How do we interact with nature? How do we connect with nature?
We interact and connect not only through our 5 physical senses, also by using our subtle senses. We are tuned to use our 5 physical senses which have narrow bands that we use to interpret our world. By using subtle senses (including our heart EMF) which have wider bands, we are able to interact and connect more with everything out there.

Everything has its own natural vibrations and sense vibration patterns from others. There is information in these vibration patterns that we can access and experience.
We have our own natural rhythms which for the most part, are not readily observable, until we look for them, or if the rhythms are subtle in manner, we can use alternate techniques to detect and connect to these rhythms or vibrations. Vibrations have harmonics, so that we perceive these vibrations as color, sound, scent, feeling and we use the information conveyed at various vibration levels to interact with our environment. When we interact with vibrations of living things in a forest or woods and we resonate with these vibrations, we're more open to being relaxed, feeling at peace, feeling good about ourselves, etc.

Check out recent advances in detection of vibration in this TED talk:

Science of practical interest to hikers:

Scientific research at CalTech (Kirschvink) indicates that humans have a magnetoreception sense, that is, the ability to sense, respond to and possibly interact with the earth's magnetic field.
http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2016/06/maverick-scientist-thinks-he-has-discovered-magnetic-sixth-sense-humans

Based on several years of scientific research in to magnetoreception, products are now available to help people locate true north (magnetic).
University of Osnabrück in Germany initially developed the true north belt (it's not just for people who are sight-impaired). There are also true north implants available.

By using these tools to locate true north, one could also develop their own sense of magnetoreception. Alternatively, using Gerry's baby steps could be used to enhance one's magnetoreception sense.

We're discovering more and more about our abilities (such as magnetoreception) and our world (e.g. geomagnetic force of the earth) and how we interact with our world and each other. We've learning more about our own abilities (such as neuroplasticity) and how to use these abilities.

Question:
If some people can sense something, yet there is no scientific instrumentation capable of measuring what they are sensing, does this mean that the something doesn't exist? Consider bacteria and viruses before we had microscopes, consider x-rays and other types of radiation before we had spectrophotometric and other radiation detection equipment.

So, what about using magnetic products such as magnetic bracelets, sleeping pads, pillows, pendants, necklaces, dog collars, socks, compression sleeves, etc.? Maybe you're thinking about buying a magnetic product for yourself or for someone else as a gift.

Should these products be used/worn when hiking? Will there be any medical benefits to using/wearing magnetic products?

Magnetic products have been used for thousands of years, and there is a lot of information out there on possible health benefits (increase circulation, increase oxygenation, alleviate arthritis, increase general energy, pain relief, injury recovery, stimulation of acupuncture points, balancing body pH, enhanced immunity, and more) . There are a number of theories as to why some people experience health benefits from magnetic products. The use of magnetic products is endorsed by the Magnetic Therapy Council, American Cancer Society, American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and others including those practicing alternative medicine. Small scientific studies have found health benefits in using magnetic products, whereas larger scientific studies have not.

Some concerns regarding magnetic products:
- magnetic strength (varies, and is quite often compared to fridge magnets or MRI gauss)
- quality of materials used (some magnetic metal products have caused skin irritation, rashes)
- existing health condition (do not use if have a pacemaker or insulin pump)
- not to be used to replace medical treatment
- resonance or interference with heart and brain EMF?

Will these products help in finding true north?
Most magnetic products do not make this claim (except for those with web links in the quote above).

If you're considering using a magnetic product (and don't have a pacemaker or insulin pump), consult with your medical practitioner first. Following this, you may also consider using Gerry's baby steps to test out a magnetic product to determine if it could be beneficial for you to use for hiking, or otherwise.

Counteracting the effects of positive ions in our environments.

What are positive ions?
Positive ions are generated by electromagnetic fields, such as computers, cell phones, and other electronics. Weather conditions have also been identified as contributing to more positive ions in our environment - cold fronts and low pressure systems. Various air-borne pollutants contribute to positive ion formation in our environment. We have more positive ions in our atmosphere because the earth has an overall negative ion charge. There are more positive ions in the atmosphere when the moon is full than its other phases. Other materials contribute positive ions to the air we breathe including carpets and upholstery from man-made materials, plastics, some metals, and lighting especially fluorescent.

Many health conditions have been linked through scientific studies to having an imbalance of positive/negative ions in our environment including breathing problems (asthma, arthritis, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, immune system challenges, impaired brain function, headaches, irritability, allergies, and other health conditions). When we inhale positive ions as we breathe, these positive ions turn in to free radicals that make our blood acidic and cause injury to cells and tissues.

We need negative ions to balance and exceed positive ions to be healthy. Negative ions are found in abundance near flowing water, plants and trees - in other words, in the great outdoors - Mother Nature.

Negative ions purify the air and negate the effect of positive ions on our bodies, they have been shown to improve many health conditions.

There are products that generate negative ions that can be used for your home, work and transportation. Interestingly, wearing magnetic products may also contribute to minimizing the effects of positive ions. You may want to check out which negative-ion generating products could be of benefit to you by following Gerry's baby steps. Or, be out in nature more often (hiking) or surround yourself with nature features in your environment that generate more negative ions.

Just keep practicing the baby steps, and note the progression from beta to alpha brain waves in the image below. ♥

EMF Nutrition and its impact on brainwaves:

The human body needs more negative ions to counteract the effects of positive ions. The more negative ions, the greater the ability to promote production of alpha brain waves. And the more we're in alpha brain wave state, the more we can tap in to our healing and creative powers. By being able to heal ourselves better and in a shorter period of time, we're able to participate in activities such as hiking. Being in alpha state also improves our immune system, helps us to reduce stress (by producing less cortisol) to feel calmer and more in sync with our bodies and Earth.

When you're practicing the baby steps to reach the alpha state (using the colors), consider doing this in an environment where there are more negative ions than positive ions (grounding outdoors).

Gerry's spiritual path.

Lessons, exercises and practices to start you on your spiritual path (adventure, journey, trail):

Sequence E (baby steps) - Reducing F.E.A.R. and stress

F.E.A.R. (False Expectations of an Altered Reality)

In today's busy world, we deal with multiple issues and tasks at any given time, and are less likely to time take to de-stress. We experience stress in many ways: traffic, exposure to EMF, work and home pressures, etc. Our brain experiences these types of stress through our primitive hard-wired neural pathways as real, not perceived (F.E.A.R.) stress, such as was required in dangerous situations (being chased by a bear while hiking, falling off a cliff, getting soaked with rain, running in to a blizzard). Because there is no real down-time, we respond to these stresses by having multiple illnesses including panic attacks, anxiety, and depression to name a few. Our brain is overworked from stress and begins to function as if there is a need for a stress response at every corner; our brain begins to anticipate scenarios (F.E.A.R.) in which it needs to deal with situations that require fight, flight or fright.

To reduce F.E.A.R., you may wish to consider following Sequence C and invite in an advisor or guru instead of a coach or instructor to identify various F.E.A.R. and stresses that really don't necessitate a primal stress response. In your Mind Studio, work on each F.E.A.R. or stressor individually in a session. Invite in an advisor or guru, describe the stressor or F.E.A.R., and ask for help to identify a way or ways to deal with it. Make a point to practice the way(s) your advisor or guru has provided to you to create new neural pathways in your brain so that your brain can access these instead of the hard-wired stress responses. Save the primitive stress responses for real situations!
