Sometime online advertising almost gets it right.

At only 19.8 lbs this is awfully tempting for a long hike. :D

I think I'll pack it between the dutch oven and the side of beef.

You pack it in and I will gather wood and enjoy it with you.

You do see the van in the background right? Not meant for a backpack trip.

I own a Biolite Stove, bought it out of curiosity and because I did a design of a similar stove.
The Biolite Stove is nicely built and works.
But sure not for hiking!

You could put it on the llama! :) (Actually did do a llama trek. Lots of fun.)

They do have a truck photo too on the page. They don't say this is for backpacking. They have a backpacking one which I thought was too heavy.

The more I backpack and the more I see of areas stripped clean of downed wood and live trees being sawed down by total imbeciles, the more I believe that camp fires and wood-burning stoves should be strongly discouraged.

Carry adequately warm clothing. Carry a stove. LNT, right?

All my humble opinion, of course. My apologies if anyone thinks it's 'preachy'.

Realistically, wood burning stoves were never much of a thing on the AT. They don't use that much wood either. I used one for a couple of seasons.

Yes, early on I used an Emberlit Mini... just a few finger-sized twigs... but messy and with a smell that permeated everything when packed.

On my section hikes I have always seen a lot of downed wood.

Really surprising just how much.

But not enough I want to spend the time at night to gather wood.

Hence the "misses the mark" portion of the title.

All recent (as in months) search history connected to any of my devices is highly backpack-centric, but someone's algorithm assumes all camping is equal and thought this would be a product I might crowd-fund.

This is really nothing more than a fancy rocket stove (check out rocket stoves on YouTube).
