Footwear Question

Does anyone have any experience with the Salomon GTX 2? I have worn Brooks Pure Grit 3 for the past few years and they finally wore out. I tried the Altra Superior 3.0 but I have concerns over the durability of the shoe. Any opinion/input is appreciated. I will be wearing them primarily for backpacking with a pack weight that never exceeds 24 lbs. Thanks

If you can find them cheap, get the Speedcross 4's instead. They fit me like a glove but if they are too tight for you it is not the end of the world because Salomon now offer a wide fit version which is 12mm wider:
