Well today I had to put my dog down and I'm setting a 2019 attempt. Its such a bittersweet day.

sorry for your loss :(
it is tough. my best friend was by my side for 15 years, damn near 24/7/365. she's been gone 9 years, i never replaced her.
you'll remember all the good times and know your pooch loved ya...
The decision is always heartbreaking, even when you know you're making the correct choice.
We had to send our 12 year old Cavalier over the bridge a week ago. His failing heart finally caught up with him.
The pain we endure is the price we pay for being blessed with good dogs. :(

My condolences for the loss of dog, and same for everyone who's posted about losing their dog. It's a beautiful time to be able to share happy moments with dogs since they give love unconditionally and dogs are so responsive to your moods. We raised German shepherds and had to put down a few over the years. Be comforted that each of your dogs had their best companions in each of you. Cherish your dog in your memories. ♥
It's one of the hardest things a pet owner has to do so the pain you're feeling is very understandable. I hope you find some peace in knowing your friend isn't suffering anymore. A hike dedicated to their memory is a great thing!
