My dad, water sources all dried up. Ice-cold gatorade, middle of nowhere.
Getting a ride off of Sonora Pass by one of the first cars after a snowstorm closed the pass and a beer for the ride.

Overnight hike with kids. No filter no pot. Planned to carry all water. Planned wrong. Ran out. Other hikers gave us filtered lake water.
Getting invited to dinner out with the Ice Cream Lady’s family and a given a place to stay, at a time I reallly needed a boost as a lonely SOBO.

That time dad drove 6 rank thru hikers into Gatlinburg mid 90’s
Finishing section hike at Deep Gap. No cell coverage, couldn't arrange shuttle. Arrive at Deep Gap - two old guys getting off trail due to injury. Guy from Alabama arrives, needs someone to take his truck to Budget Inn in Franklin. Guess where my vehicle is parked? :banana
Meeting a real cool lady at Ethan Pond Shelter, before going our separate ways (then discovering we lived in the same building 170 Miles away a couple weeks later). Married 25 years now.

Hot day, water scarce. Came to Deep Gap & found water and one banana. Simple gift - maybe the best banana I ever ate. I was so grateful.

Father and son riding up on horseback into camp after a wicked hard day giving me a beer..not AT but magic non the less.
Dreaming of something sweet and cool, cross road toward trail, spy a big rock to take sitting break- PEAR tree, ripe!
Elderly shuttle driver and his wife braved a deep wet snow to rescue my cold wet self at High Point state park. Bless you both!
Struggling after a heavy resupply picturing myself as a turtle who might never make it to Springer. Then coming across my first Eastern Box Turtle in the middle of the Trail. Spirits rose!
Climbing K with my wife for her 1st time and being met by a Humming Bird (her favorite) when we reached the Table Land. Her red hat -- or Magic?
