I just started looking at more.

E.g. https://www.outsideonline.com/2191836/best-backpacking-tent-ive-ever-used and ones like it.

Seems an entire universe of under 2 lb two person tents are showing up in 2017 and 2018.

I’ll bet REI is next. :)

which ones have your attention?

Many have enjoyed the Nemo brand. I, for no reason, have steered away from it.

The Fly Creek has been around for many years, nothing new there.

Love my Fly Creek. The problem with the sub 2lb "Platinum" version is the larger mesh panels - wind and sand tend to get blown in.

The two BA Platinum tents are new —and I think they started the trend.

I realized Nemo was also doing it and that made me wonder who else would follow suit.

If that makes sense.

the Fly Creek is statistically the #1 tent on the AT.

Which has my attention.

Note that all three are larger, lighter and cheaper than

big change in just a couple years.

It's a great tent - quasi freestanding, the UL2 is <2lbs before the stakes, and the fly can be fast pitched with a few pieces of paracord instead of the tent.

A lot to be said for that.

Given their guarantee, likely not. Likewise LL Bean.

good point. Wonder though. They have the quarter dome and the guarantee is now limited to a year.

So they might.
