Has anyone used the Kestrel DROP 1 Smart Temperature Data Logger or Kestrel DROP D3 Wireless Temperature, Humidity and Pressure Data Logger? I am looking mainly for a small device to log the temperature changes and came across these on the internet. Was wondering how well they work. Or maybe there are better options?

I did quite a bit of research on these a few months ago. At the time, it looked like the Drop was about the best option. They aren't cheap, but seem to be the best for accessing the data. Never did buy one. Looking forward to hearing about hikers using them.

Seems like you could just let it run during a hike and also access it via Bluetooth from the tent to see the actual outdoor temp.

Probably not the reason you’re buying one, but I will say this: Kestrel is by far the most relied upon brand used by the long range shooting community, including military snipers. They aren’t cheap, but they are the best you can get.

The 2500 also has an Altimeter with it. This post may have just cost me $150.

Ghost chasers also use for spectoral analysis.
