For those of you knee deep into your hike planning, you may want to check out the online AT Planner (https://www.postholer.com/planner/Appalachian-Trail/3) or the AT Data Book (https://www.postholer.com/databook/Appalachian-Trail/3). All is free.

The planner is one of the newest additions and has become particularly popular, It will take lots of anguish out of the process.

The data book has some awesome info not found anywhere else, like the meta data page, with climate data for every section and every month of the year. Also percentage of land cover, not found anywhere else.

Have fun with your planning!

What a shame these resources are nearly impossible to use on a smartphone.

Could not find a nobo sobo option. I as a section hiker would really like to use this but for instance my next trip will be PA sobo to Duncannon, so I can only view my trip backwards from what I will be walking it :(

Less than 5% of hikers go sobo. Creating features that target that small of group is a waste of resources at this time.

For viewing the data book, updating your journal and weather reports on your android device, use the postholer app.

Before the app, I just used my browser to save the page I was looking at, then update at the beginning of each trail section. Easy peasy.
