If you know the weather is going to be good that night this is a good place to camp. There's a concrete enclosure on top. No tent or fly needed. Just lay out under the stars. Go .3 or .4 north to Garfield Ridge campsite to get water.

Just for clarity's sake...it's not really so much of an "enclosure" (no roof) as it is four shallow concrete walls. Wouldn't camp up there unless I was absolutely positively sure it wasn't going to be windy...4500 feet and above treeline can make for some really miserable sleeping weather :)

After you come down off of Lafayette or Lincoln, cant remember which one comes first. Your next peak is Garfield. As you go on above tree line , the trail starts to dip into some tree cover before you get to Garfield. On the right of one of these"oasis of trees" youll see a side trail. Follow that for about 100 feet and it opens to flat area where you can easily pitch a tent. However there is no water here. You cant be seen from the trail and you are below treeline, so this should be a legal spot.

This has been mentioned before:

A "stealth" campsite is, by definition, an unofficial one. While it is kind and well-meaning to give public advice/suggestions on stealth camping, it is counter-productive. There are many "stealth" sites in the Whites that now no longer exist, or are patrolled by rangers and ridgerunners, because their location became too widely known and advertised.

If you want to share your knowledge of "stealth" sites, please do it discretely, and on a "one-to-one" basis, so you can be sure that the person who's getting the information is someone who will use the spot wisely and safely, and will do the spot no harm.
