I was just following up on the "slack-pack Georgia" services.

Looks like the renamed and rebadged Hiker Hostel service for slackpacking Georgia is no longer around, just a pick-up and shuttle to the trail service (together with a one night stay):

Anyone know if anyone else has stepped up to offer a slack-pack Georgia service?

Top of Georgia Hostel offers it. All the big shuttle drivers will still provide the necessary shuttles, but you have to work out the logistics and lodging on your own.

And this might be a decent substitute now: http://www.topofgeorgiahostel.com/shuttles

Looks like I just missed/cross posted. Thanks for the confirmation!

There's got to be a National Forest campground centrally located you could work out of. If you used your car, you'd only need one shuttle a day.

Though if you are planning on hiking further than Georgia that isn't going to work as well. ;)

Good ol Ron Brown is on the road pretty much all day every day shuttling in Georgia, he would definitely work with people to get them where they need to go.

I don't see why the state line is relevant in the effectiveness of slacking...Even if you go out of one shuttle drivers jurisdiction, you can just pickup with the next shuttler, there is overlap pretty much all the way up the southern AT...

You can slackpack as far as Fontana if that's what you want to do. It will get expensive. The section around Standing Indian is closed to automobiles until around April 1.
