Creeper Trail

I am planning my Fox Creek To Damascus trip this year. I plan to stop at the wise shelter, Thomas Knob, Whiteop and from there I want to stay somewhere between lost mountain and Saunders somewhere on the creeper trail and not on the Appalachian trail. Are there tent sites on the creeper trail and if so are there any good ones in that area? How safe is it on the creeper trail to stay overnight?
