Hope, faith, answered prayer, humbleness to a higher power, courage, patience, leadership, perseverance,...all in the face of extreme duress.
A sobering study. More than a story.
Obviously, declaring "By Endurance We Conquer" it wasn't just referring to the name of the ship. They truly lived by it.

Another great read by the New Yorker.
That was absolutely fascinating. One of the best articles I've read in ages.
What a saga. Really punched me in the gut at the end.
Oddly, as the third expedition began, I "knew" how it was going to end, and I was right. It was Icarus flying too near the sun.

I didn't see it coming at all. Should have - in retrospect it seems like they built up to that. As it was, it felt like getting hit by a train to have things end that way.
