I already have a WM Versalite 10* bag that is great for a large amount of backpacking I do in my favorite places (alpine and generally above about 7000ft).

However some of the hiking I'm going to be doing here, and back in the UK when I move back, is going to be at lower elevation with warmer nights. I am a cold sleeper and don't know if it's worth going with a 30 or 40* quilt (what I prefer in warmer temps over a bag) in a synthetic bag (my preference for damper climates)

My thoughts are if the temperatures are going to be anywhere near freezing overnight I'd be taking my Versalite.

Also, other than EE who does synthetic top quilts as I know their temp ratings aren't great (personal experience) and Loco Libre Gear isn't currently listing them on their site

Every time I spent any time in northern Europe, specifically Belgium, I froze. July, February, didn't matter. I would end up buying warm clothes. Just like the warm clothes at home that I didn't think I would need in July.
That's only one data point. Northern Europe isn't as pleasant in the summers the Rockies. It's damp, windy and bone chilling cold.
Call Loco Libre. Beg if you have to. Grinning!
Good luck.

I'd use my Versalite then. I'm thinking for low elevation UK, Spain, summer in Oregon at low elevation.

Low elevation: The coast of Belgium in July.
Spain, sure. It's dry. Hot even.
Just a hunch. An honestly rated 30 degree quilt. Sized to spread over the Versalite in the cold 3 seasons. That would be an awesome combination.

Part of the reason I'm doing this now is to save on import taxes and shipping fees when I head to Europe.
I'm thinking a 30* EE quilt would be 40* rated and be comfortable, for me, to 55*. Anything lower than than I'd want my Versalite anyway.

What can Loco Libre do for you? If you ask real nice?
Does EE make a 20 degree synthetic quilt that might be ok for you at 40-45? Or is that already Versalite temperatures for you?

Their lead time is too long anyway so I wouldn't get it in time.

40-45 is Versalite temp. I had a 10* Convert that I took into the high 20s. I got a little cold but I think that was in big part because I bought a size too large for me and I couldn't keep it warm enough. I'm looking for something to get me into the 50s and maybe high 40s. Anything colder than that I'm opting for the Versalite.

Sounds like a plan. The quilt draped over the Versalite might get you to single digits.

The only other synthetic manufacturer I am aware of is MLD. The FKT might still not be warm enough for you though. Its rated 38-48 degrees. They have a Spirit model as well with different temp ratings.

Okay, thanks. I think the EE 30* quilt will be appropriate for me.

Thanks. I looked at them...didn't care for them much.
