Davenport Gap parking

Doing the Smokies in May and I'm wondering where to leave my car in Davenport Gap. Guthook says there's a large parking area at the Pigeon River bridge. Would it be safe there? If not where do you recommend?

Ranger station at big creek or standing bear...


i wouldnt leave my car at either the Gap or near the bridge......
