Read David Brill's As Far as the Eye Can See, a marvelous book about his 1979 thru-hike.

Don't kill time. Utilize it.
Yoga, go for a run, research blister prevention, get better control of food impulses pre hike, consider better walking mechanics, learn how to identify poison ivy and stinging nettle and poisonous snakes, how to avoid negative encounters with wildlife by addressing you changing your own behavior, observing and predicting weather patterns, doing better breathing exercises, examining your mental strength and improving on it going over pre hike some of the common psychological reasons why people mentally struggle on hikes and how to avoid the common mental pitfalls leading to injury or quitting,...

Lots to engage that can help on your anticipated journey pre hike...beginning with controlling anxiety or impatience.

Condition your body to adapt to weather conditions. Each morning, put your clothes on before you get in the shower. Soak your shoes in the kitchen sink overnight. About 4 PM,get back in the shower. Repeat each day until you depart, using the same clothes all week. Should get you in the mood.....

Also put the wet shoes in the freezer occasionally.
