Probably nothing new, but this still stuck me as odd.

There was a reason why we would leave New Orleans for Mardi Gras.
On our anniversary too.

Nothing odd - trail days is a business event. Vendors have tents to sell you stuff.

Based upon how the ad reads, it would appear that the city put in that ad. What is odd about that? Tourism drives many local economies.

I closely looked at the ad for something amiss and could find nothing. What's odd about it? I was there in 2016. It was a fun time with a lot of hikers in town and a bunch of industry vendors doing their best to show off their gear.

I stand corrected. Not odd.

I find it odd that anybody who actually hikes would read Backpacker magazine. Particularly long-distance hikers.

I read it only because my sister gifts me a subscription every year. At least she doesn't send me Cosmopolitan magazine.

You can get didital editions of both for free for free by signing up at texture.com for a free 7-day trial.

Even if you elect to cancel right after subscribing with iTunes, you get a month to read not only the current edition, but more than a year of back issues.

Of the two, I prefer Backpacker.

Even if Backpacker is below one’s level of sophistication, fans of America’s Got Tallent might want to check out Texture anyway — for the cover story on one of its judges.

But seriously, Backpacker has its moments.

I haven't read Backpacker in many years. Is their favorite word still "boost"? I remember that it used to pop up in every other paragraph.

(I'm trying to drive my post count up to rocketsocksian and Dogwoodian heights. Ok, I've got a bit of catching up to do.)

I only scan the contents to see if anything peaks my interest. I haven't noticed boost in the articles that i read.
