Does anyone know if there is overnight (6-7 days) at Neel's Gap/Mountain Crossings? Looking to renew my section hike at the hostel and don't want to shuttle any more than necessary or waste any more steps than necessary.

Google Byron Reece Trailhead, it is less then a mile from Neel Gap. Neel Gap does not offer overnight parking, space is very limited there at Neel Gap.

As well, Byron Reece Trailhead parking fills up quickly, and if you try and park in an undesignated parking spot they will write you a ticket. There is probably parking for 40 cars or so.

There is a ton of parking 600 yards West of Mountain Crossings on the left at the State Park.

Do you mean at Vogel State Park?

You can park at Vogel State Park, which is a few miles down the mountain. You must buy a parking pass to park there. I believe it is $5 for 7 days. The only allowed parking near the trailhead is at the Byron Reese trailhead parking lot which is about 1/3 of a mile down from Neel Gap. As stated above, you must park in a designated spot or you will get a ticket. If you need a shuttle, call Ron Brown at 706-636-2825.

Yep, Bryon Reece. Toss your pack on the grass at Mountain Crossing, drive down to Bryon Reece parking lot and walk back up. Maybe 20 minutes tops. That lot seems as safe as any others in the area and is open 24/7.

The parking lot just down the hill from Neel Gap is about a 5 minute walk back to Neel Gap. Don’t confuse it with Vogel State Park which is much further.

+1 for Ron Brown. Very nice guy, on time, helpful. We didn't have a single complaint from our section, and it started with a ride from Ron.
