Just finished paddling from Bimini, Bahamas back to Lake Worth, Fl on my SUP in the “Crossing For A Cure”, about 16 hours and 80-85 miles to raise awareness and funds for those suffering from with cystic fibrosis. We left Bimini at 12:30 AM and reached the Lake Worth pier at around 6PM. All paddlers were required to raise at least $1,000 for the cause in total we raised over $300,000.00. I’ll include my CrowdRise link along with event page for anyone interested for next year....

What did you eat and where did you store it. Either way it’s rad

We had chase boats and were assigned to that would throw us bars, energy chews and drinks every hour or two. Needless to say I’m sick of bars!

Any issues with curious sea critters? Looks like it was a great adventure. Thanks for doing that and raising all that money.

That's all for now. Take care and until next time....be well.

Plenary of bull and nurse sharks while we were in Bimini but once in the Gulfstream all we saw were dolphins that stayed with us over an hour.

I saw your post on instagram yesterday. That’s nuts! I’ve done that roundtrip twice in a 68 foot boat. I can’t imagine trying it on a SUP!

I never made the run, but I've heard the Gulf Stream can kick up a bit. Compensating navigation for the current with only paddle power should have taken large adjustment .

Even in 6-inch Seas, seems like it would be hard to stand on a board to me.... But sounds like a lot of fun.

How many times did you fall???

I finally got on one of these things (a paddle board that is) when I was down at my parents in SC a few weeks ago. I have some prior experience kayaking, but the paddle boarding was definitely a different experience. I can't imagine paddling 80 miles on one of those suckers.

I started out sea kayaking and kayak fishing years ago, actually where the name “Salty Sack”[emoji51]came from...but the older I got my lower back couldn’t handle the sitting....evolving to a sup was a perfect fit for me. I enjoy to go on extended trips as it’s as close to backpacking as I get in north Fl......i thru paddled the 300+ mile of the St. John’s river back in 2012 camping along the way. This got me hooked on distance sup trips. Hoping to thru paddle the Suwannee river from Okefanokee swamp to the gulf next fall or spring.
