Hi

First time backpacker. I plan to do North Carolina in mid-October.

Are there any guidebooks or online sites which have info such as

Topographic Maps, Data Book, Elevation Profile, Resupply Guides?

thank you,

Meir

All kinds, just on this site alone. Check out the home page.
Buy the Guthook app for your phone.

Coming from Miami...
Do you have experience and gear suitable for backpacking in sub freezing weather?
Be prepared. Have fun!

“First time backpacker. I plan to do North Carolina in mid-October.”
Can you be more specific? Start? End? Dates?
The NC-TN border, where the AT is, is quite high. 5,000’ to 6,000’ PLUS. Vastly different than Miami or anywhere else in Florida.
Is your gear up to the task? First backpacking trip? Are you up to the task?
All the best to you! Have fun.

We live in NC at 3000' elevation. It has snowed here on several occasions around Labor Day. As others mentioned, be prepared for cold weather.

Verified! I have photos of my grandkids and snowmen from Boone, NC at 3,400 feet taken in September and October.
Worse than snow: 35-40 degrees. Rain. Wind. Potentially lethal.
The good days more than make up for the bad.
