View Full Version : Pawling, NY flip-flop
Does anyone have an opinion about the flip-flop the ATC suggests on their website which starts in Pawling, NY in June?

It's a good option if you need to start in June. A much less physically demanding option then starting at Katahdin.
I would say it is a great schedule for beating the heat and the crowds
puts you in maine for the hottest time - not so good this year....
avoid the worst of the black flies and skeeters - but not ticks
start ahead of the bubble and flip in behind them
great weather through the fall - but potential dry water sources
close enough to in season that all the services should be open
reasonable travel beginning / flip / and end (new york city and atlanta)
start at a good place to build endurance - for about the 1st month
the main downside - all that drama to climb K ......... and you are still only about 1/3 finished
