Anyone have experience using these trekking poles? Sturdy? Locking mechanism is solid?

Yes. I use them. No issues with locking mechanisms.

I have a set and really like them. I'll say they have had about 10 days of hard use and some light ones as well. The locking mechanism works great and I've yet to have they slip. Now...I did break the lower section of one pole earlier this summer. I planted it on a rock, then slipped. The pole tip slid off the rock, got jammed up between other rocks and that was it. CS was great to work with and explained how to remove the broken section since it was still locked inside the middle section.

They did catch my eye because i prefer 3 piece for travel.
I saw review somewhere which described as pretty flexy
No GG carbon pole has ever been described as "sturdy" that i know of.

I have them and really like’em. The locking mechanism works OK. If you stumble and come down hard on a pole, the lower nut slips, which is a good thing, otherwise, you could snap the pole. The baskets, however, really suck! If you hike in any kind of brush they snag, a lot. I swapped out my old Leki baskets ( which fit just fine), so problem solved. The only other nit is that the straps are the same, no left or right. The problem is that the tag end of the right strap rests over your hand and flops back and forth when you walk, a minor inconvenience. All that being said, these poles are crazy light and I highly recommend.

I run mine at about 130 - 135 cm and do not find them to flex enough to notice.

I realize this is an old thread however, I thought I revisit it and share my additional experience my LT5's.
I've had them for awhile now and have used them on a number of local hikes as well as on two section hikes of the AT, which got me from Amacola to Fontana Dam.
1. They are stupid light.
2. They are sturdy, even at 130 mm.
3. The length has never slipped on me and I'm a good sized guy.
I did manage to break the lower section of a pole on a local hike. I slipped on a wet rocky and unfortunately, the pole slipped in between a few large rocks and well...... GG service was quick to sell and ship me a new section.
These are fragile poles and they will break just like every other pole. I do not use wrist straps becuase I don't like them. This also allows me to let go of my poles when I fall therefore mitigating potential damage. I also have to be fully aware of what is going on with the end of the pole. If I feel that is getting stuck, I have to stop moving it or, pop it up out of a hole immediately.
Either way, I've been very please so far.

Over 1000 miles on GG LT5 poles as of date. No breaking or slippage to speak of. I do prefer the ease of flip locks but at the same time my flip locks have slipped. I'm pretty light on poles though. Over 3k miles of use on the original tips of my lekis.
Ive always said if you don't have a knack for bending/breaking aluminum poles then carbon may just work for you.
I honestly don't notice a difference in sturdiness of my lt5 vs lekis while using them on trail. This is due to me being light on my poles. Why I went to carbon. Most of the time I am loosely twiddling the lt5 between a few fingers
