After finally getting my new burn out on something more than a weekend trip I can now say it’s the bomb! I just finished the 170 mile TRT in a little over 8 days and carried cold weather gear, hammock set up ie 20* TQ/uq, 4 days food and 3.5l of water. I had ron make with the larger prophet shoulder straps and no hip belt, two tone and sold side pockets...I paired this with a new a new Thrupack summit bum in xpac ie fanny pack and found it to be the cats arse of a set up! Very comfortable and ease of access! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181001/638bc46f593633670cc252416dd04f78.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181001/49a5cabd7b6aa9185e1271492abfef04.jpg

A sexy beast of a pack. [emoji3] Why the fanny pack versus a hip belt?

I found on the prophet I had previously I preferred not to use the hip belt and all the packs I’ve had hated fooling with adjusting the buckle and could never find what I was looking for or had an issue getting it out of the hip belt pockets. I have terrible flexibility and also carry a phablet of a phone that never fit easily in any of the pockets. The Thrupack has a rear slot the phone simply slides in and stays put! I tested this when I busted my arse and nearly slid down from freel pass and it didn’t fall out! I also found it so convenient at breaks to simply unclip my chest strap drop the pack but have the fanny pack with my wallet, knife, daily snacks, meds, headlamp, phone etc...obviously wouldn’t recommend this set up for someone hauling a TIPI sized load...[emoji38]my me this is the best set up I have tried!

I’m not on FB but believe all they changed was the same shoulder straps that I got and a padded hip belt which I didn’t want. Mine is the current mod I believe as got it in early 18 and ron told what was looking at doing.

Congrats on completing the Tahoe Rim Trail! Funny... I just paired the thrupack with my burn for a trip in Wyoming. Worked out well! Nice job! More pics from the TRT?

Who puked on your pack? Wasabi Grey Poupon? :)

Nice set up for that thru. You're finding your way Kimo-wasabi. . That's what it's about.

No hip belt on the MLD Prophet fully spec loaded out? You're a Patrick Ewing broad shouldered he man salty dog.

yeah, no big shoulders for me - I went the other way, cut off the little padded wings and sewed on a more substantial hip belt - my version is now 24 oz with a small brain

What kind of weights were you carrying at your heaviest? I’ve been putting a lot of thought into a Burn/fanny pack combo. I like the idea of accessing my phone and camera from a front pocket than a side one as it can be tricky to zip it shut one handed.

I didn’t weigh but guess with 3.5l water 4 day food etc prob 26-27...I really like the combo..phone pocket is the cats arse.. it’s a slot, no zippers and very fast and easy to simply grab and slide back without the hassle of zippers etc.

Ha......only time I used the hip belt was trying to carry 40lbs!....damn jack isn’t ultra light at 20lbs!!!!!Swisscross is the proud new owner of the wasabi prophet. It was more room than I needed....https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181002/106f19e2f66b296845862cab4658b95d.jpg

I’m envious of the trip you and Patman did in the winds!!! I’d love to join if space available next year! Did you really carry 10 days food in burn?

Yeah man... keep in touch. No bull****....10 days with 9 dinners. I finished with enough to go an extra day if I had to. On the thru pack I had him sew stretchy mesh pocket across the face and wrapping around the bottom. Access is smaller than a fist so holds a bunch of snacks nicely. I copied someone else I’d seen custom ordered it that way. I figure he should make that standard order. I hiked with your old prophet (swisscross) in March in N.C.!
