I've left cars parked in both places during day hikes, and noticed cars apparently left there overnight without damage. But as with any remote trailhead, there's always the chance of theft and vandalism. I'd second the suggestion of getting a ride from Miss Janet (uncle Johnny will also shuttle, if you stay at his place, as we did).
