Looking for something solar https://getawaychief.com/watches-for-backpacking/ that will really hold up.
Must be able to see the face at night. Some of these arent lit.
Need to see direction, barometric pressure, etc.

When my Luminox finally bit the dust, I was searching for a replacement with AltimeterBarometerCompass features. I narrowed my choice to the Casio PRW-3500T-7C. Got it here: https://www.amazon.com/Casio-PRW-3500T-7CR-Triple-Sensor-Digital/dp/B00U171U4C
I love it. It works great and isn't too heavy, plus it's solar charged. So no more batteries for me!

A friend I hike with has some outdoor type watch and we asked him on the last hike what the temperature was and he said the temp isn’t accurate when you’re wearing it.

A friend I hike with has some outdoor type watch and we asked him on the last hike what the temperature was and he said the temp isn’t accurate when you’re wearing it.
I bought a $50 German watch with temperature, and "altitude." I tore off the straps, cleverly attached the body of the watch, upside down to a hiking pole. I used that pole inside my tent, and the watch became a tiny room clock. The temperature was accurate, and the barometer tracking function was theoretically useful (atweather.org was far more useful.)
Sadly, it rattled itself apart within three weeks.

Comes in a solar powered version within the OP's budget.
Does the metal band muck up with trail grime resulting in band discomfort and inflexibility?

I carry a watch sometimes but not on my wrist during the hike. I strap it to my sternum strap. This makes it easy to look up time.
Also I would partially rethink the solar choice if you think you want the watch to last a long time...because the solar recharges the battery and the battery eventually dies and requires replacement...and SUPRISE (planned obsolescence) the battery is not (in my case) the regular replaceable kind but more expensive proprietary kind.. Add to that the fact that after three years of use the gaskets that make it waterproof are faded and also need replacement and VOILA! [emoji1][emoji91]the bill comes to be about the same as a new watch!
So, my watch is AUTOMATIC. If winds itself by movement. It never needs a battery.
(I managed to lose it...I'm on my second watch) [emoji38]

Barometer is very useful. I like the metal band because the plastic ones break too easily and the cloth-based ones get stinky.

I’ve never used on a hike. I always use my suunto core. Like others I hook it on my chest strap so the readings are more accurate

and the wrist strap doesn't get too stinky from sweaty wrists during hiking ;-) ... this is at least my experience...I like cloth wrist straps but they start smelling like old socks after several days on the trail when only worn on wrist.
