Right now Im weighing my pack full with gear and no food or water:

11.4 pounds

Is this a good start for a thru-hike? I weigh 140#, 6'1"

That is a pretty good start, at least to me. I am sitting at around 16-17 lbs. I still need to finish a couple things.

Post a list and weights.

These are great starting weights...Question is, do you have what you need? if so great...often this type question is posed as a gear list for review and comment.

Enjoy your hike.

11 pounds is what I started at. That's a great starting weight. Plus when you lose the cold-weather clothes it gets even better.

You'll find that you will have one of the lightest packs out there. Not THE lightest, but you'll be up there.

that's a great point. 6'1" 140 seems like you're on the skinny side, so I hope you've got enough stuff to keep warm at night.

I'll post my list once I get everything finished. Hope to be there soon. I what to make sure that I have everything I need vs carrying to much. I don't want to get a couple days into the wilderness and find out I really need something.
