Tonight for dinner we had On-Cor's, Rib-like patties. My wife and I both tasted it and together said, "SPAM"! What the best way to use Spam as a dish for for the trail?

Spam musubi. Throw some white rice on a sheet of nori (seaweed) and put a slice of lightly fried spam in the middle, wrap it up and you've got yourself a pretty good snack.

I like Spam burgers. A slice of Spam (must be fried), some pepper jack cheese and ketchup on a large "everything" bagel. I carry a very small fry pan just big enough for a single serve foil pack. These seem to "stick to my ribs" better than a lot of other trail meals I typically eat.

Spam with anything. Spambalia like above. Like everything else, ok in moderation.

From my long departed youth: two pieces of fried Spam with a slice of American cheese on each side between two pieces of mushy white bread.

Prepare just like I do with Lake Trout. Find a 8 inch or greater maple and cut down when the sap is running. Split with a sharp axe leaving a board about 3/8 inch thick. Prepare fire with local hardwood and let burn down to glowing coals. Spread trout filet, or in this case Spam, with special seasoning prepared at home from Grandmother's pantry. Prop up so that meat receives the full heat for searing and then pull it back slightly so that it will cook throughout. When fully cooked remove from board by pulling out the brass nails that held it in place. Throw the trout (Spam) into the woods and eat the board-it will taste better. Old Maine Guide joke.

I do not like Spam; however, my husband likes spam sandwiches... spam between bread or tortillas. He also likes it under eggs (if he is car camping)

Red beans and rice with Spam.
That’s a criminal offense where I come from.
You can’t even spell Spambalaya right.
That’s also a crime.

Spam musubi. Throw some white rice on a sheet of nori (seaweed) and put a slice of lightly fried spam in the middle, wrap it up and you've got yourself a pretty good snack. I had a student from Hawaii who made that in Home Ecc. class, and brought me some to try. I was horrified by how delicious it was.

Actually, I can spell any given word at least three ways. It's a sign of creativity! :sun

I don't eat spam but it does remind me of German Leberkaese that is usually served hot on fresh cut roll and spicy mustard. I would eat it like that if I had spam.

Some great ideas for Spam!! Now I'm hungry for Spam. What type of Spam is better, Spam or Spam "Light"? (What ever that is.)
