i'm in the process of putting together my next trip and am looking at arkansas this time... Has anyone done the Ouachita Trail (runs from Oklahoma about 225 miles to Arkansas, or the other way, depending...)?
The Ark. and Okl. state park web sites are less than informative, there doesn't seem to be a trail club i can find online, and though i can get maps from the state, nothing beats someone's personal experience.
i'm interested in shuttles at either end, resupply, and water. the trail goes through several bits of state parks/forests (mostly the Ouachita National Forest in Ark), including a stretch called the something-mountain wilderness, which is supposed to be extremely dry and, for a non-western US area, very remote and unpopulated.
any information, especially first-hand accounts or links to an OT hikers group website would be most appreciated. thanks.
