I'm planning a fall backpacking trip, preferrably in Oct with a small group. I've hiked all of the AT in Virginia, time to try someplace new. I greatly prefer solitude, low density of other people. Based on your experience, what can I expect on a Wednesday- Sunday trip? Is that section of trail heavily traveled that time of year?
Thanks

It is a low density time of year. If you are stretching that section into a five day hike, you will have lots of time to enjoy the solitude.

Most of the SOBO thru-hikers will likely be well past PA by October, so it'll mostly be day hikers and section hikers. I plan to hike the southern half of PA this October, though the part you described will likely only take me 2 days.
