If the shuttles are all busy, is it fairly easy to catch a ride via Uber/Lyft or traditional taxi service in the Bryson City/Cherokee area?

Just an update: there is Uber in Cherokee (I didn't check Lyft) but there are a very limited number of drivers. I would not recommend waiting & relying on this as a method to get to a trailhead.
Thanks for posting this. I am trying to solve this problem for my own upcoming hike... This'll be my first backpacking trip that isn't an out and back or a loop (i.e., ending a different place than I started), so I don't know what the going rate is, but the shuttle service company I called quoted me $168 for a lift from Waterrock Knob to Clingman's. :eek:

For me to give you a ride, it would be 3.75 hours at $15 an hour, plus 134 miles at .50 per mile.
That's 56 for my time and 67 for my car, or 123 dolla.
