I usually buy white gas in a gallon jug that stays in my garage, and fill my fuel bottle from that as needed for week-long hikes. At resupply points along the months-long AT, in what volumes is white gas available, and how readily available?
There is a gas station at Big Medows in SNP that sell coleman fuel at 15 c pe ounce-OUCH- but thy at least have it. Try a wood burning stove-the fuel is everywhere and free.

White gas is very readily available. Most charge by the oz, a few by the pint. Be prepared to leave a tip or buy a gallon for the hostel hiker box once or twice.
