I hadn't been to trailjournals.com in some years. For me, it's become less user friendly or, to be fair, I've probably gotten dumber.

In the distant past, you could specify n. or s. bound and also separate those who finished from those who "got of the trail."

Also, did they really remove the gear lists that each journal could post?

That said, and what I really want to know is, do you have any good recommendations for southbound trail journals? Replies with hyperlinks are very welcome.

To partially answer my own question, yesterday I found a 2008 southbound trail journal by Bearwalker that is quite helpful. I enjoy high mileage days, but Bearwalker's abilities are beyond mine.

I will be doing a southbound 'half thru' and am trying to gather as much info and perspective as I can before I leave. I am particularly interested in what they wrote about hostels and services that close or curtail business in late fall. And if extra precautions were taken during hunting season (I've done several section hike in fall, always wear orange, etc., but there were a couple of days in southern VA that sounded like I was walking through a war zone).
I would appreciate cites for any southbound journals that you've found to be well done.

"Orange" i.e. "Mapman" from this site is SOBO this summer, I thought he had a journal somewhere.

Hostel seasonal hours and resupply info is in the AWOL guide. There may be some hunting warnings in there but i'm not sure. I went sobo sectioning in Aug and Sept into Oct if you have other questions. You'll want warm clothes!

Using the search function can be really helpful. Google, and doing the same here or on the Reddit sub will get you tons of results.

and this for hunting off the above results. On my hike I had an orange puffy and bandana and pack cover. In the fall, orange is the thru black. Ok i'll see myself out.
